New & Used Tires
At Road Runner Tire Shop, we take pride in offering only the best new and used tires, and we strive to offer nothing but the best tire replacement service. We carry both new and used car tires and truck tires. However, the bigger question you should be asking is—do you need new tires? Here’s a convenient list to help you figure that out. If you don’t see your issue on this list, please call us and we will consult on whether you need tire replacement.
Signs you need new tires
- The tread of your tires has fallen below 1/16 of an inch. To check this yourself, you can take a penny and stick it (with Abraham Lincoln’s head upside down) in to tread. If you can see his entire head after sticking it in, you do not have enough tread and should probably bring your car in for us to check out.
- In the modern age, tires have a handy-dandy device called a “tread wear indicator bar” built in. They are nearly invisible when the tires are brand new, and become more prominent in appearance as the tire wears down, and look like flat rubber bars that intersect with the tread of your tire. When these bars become apparent, it is time to bring your car or truck tires to us.
- If your tires are cracking, it is a clear sign that your tires need to be replaced. If there are cracks in your sidewall that are large enough to be visibly apparent, it could mean that your tire is developing a leak, and it is important to get them replaced soon.
- Bring your car into us if your car is vibrating more than it ordinarily would. This could happen for a vast array of different reasons, but it’s usually happening because you have a tire problem.
